Roseland Community Transport

We held our 4th Annual General Meeting on 24th June, the summary of the year was:

We started off the year by launching our dial-a-ride scheme. With a core of three drivers willing to give their time and two others who could occasionally do the odd run it was always going to be a struggle to get the scheme off the ground. Unfortunately after running it for six months we only had a few people take up the opportunities it offered and had to give up on the idea. The next project we are looking into is the possibility of setting up a volunteer car scheme to run alongside the bus, and hopefully this will prove more popular. We will be handing out questionnaires and gaining your opinions at the local fairs and events around the Roseland this summer. Please come and talk to us.

We have introduced two new roles to the committee this year, that of Maintenance coordinator to oversee the checking of the bus and organising our maintenance schedule and a fundraising coordinator to organise our fund raising activities. We thank Dave Giles, Philip Rundle and Wendy Rundle for taking on these roles.

The end of this year has seen us take the decision to increase our fees. They have not been increased since we started in 2007 and with the higher fuel and maintenance costs; it was a necessary decision we had to make.

The bus has been out on 20 excursions which have been very successful. We have visited Trevarno, Trebah, Pencarrow, Royal Cornwall Show, St. Austell, Trago, been on Mystery Trips, been to see productions at The Minack Theatre and Hall for Cornwall. Our most successful excursions are to the gardens and houses around Cornwall closely followed by the Mystery Trips that Peter Messer-Bennetts put on, thank you Peter. We must also thank The Millennium Rooms who continue to take our bookings.

We would like to finish by thanking all the community groups who have hired the bus this year.
